Cressida froze in place before saying, "Tristan's car is parked right downstairs. He can go down by himself."
"How could you say such a thing?" Daphne said, her face turning dark immediately. "Tristan had been busy all day, and he still found time to purposely come over and keep me company while also making dinner for you.
"Why are you making a fuss about seeing him out? That's the most basic form of courtesy. Do you understand me?"
"He didn't make dinner," Cressida retorted quietly.
"He sliced the cucumbers!"
Cressida was speechless. When she saw that Daphne wasn't going to let it go, she glanced at Tristan and finally admitted defeat. She went to get the front-door keys and marched out as if she'd just accepted her fate.
