Chapter 8 Lessons For Life

Life in the guild was much like a boarding school, with dorm rooms and a dining room and classes shared with the entire school. Nova was walking down one of the many halls on her way to her next class, she had only started today and had been though several classes already. They only lasted a short period and students where allowed to come and go as they pleased to train out side the class on the guild grounds. As she was racing though the Elemental halls she passed many open rooms teaching a few different classes teaching many different area s of the subject to let the students move jump at their own speed. She turned in to a room and took seat, the rooms where small and had individual chairs and tables fixed down many where empty and allowed for any number and not in use. Nova took a seat and sat smiling for the class to begin, many other types to students where scattered around. At the front of the class sat a small raised wooden platform with a barrier along it parting in the middle for the stairs with a black board on the wall. Necro was writing on the broad. "Welcome to Elemental Magic one o one." he said spinning around. Nova lent forward as she straitened her glasses as the glass began. "Now my wife and T.A. Lady will help me show of some basic conjuring of the elements." he said. Lady came forward from the back of he class. "Now when it comes to conjuring you need to focus on what you want to conjure, in this case wind." he explained. He reached out a hand and Lady began to come towards him, but as she did he move his hands if pulling a rope, until she was in him arms. "If you are still unable to conjure, you may want to explore different techniques, but you need to make sure that, when done you need to keep a metal eye on what it s doing or it can get away from you." he continued. "Yeah I have question." said one students, he was a dragon in a leather jacket . "Why is Necromancer teaching this subject." "And that is ten seconds in the realm of the dead." he replied and the dragon was gone. Necro moved down to see his remaining students. "Now a way I often use is spoken manipulation, where you speak words that remind you of the element to help get it on your mind, but never try it in the class room with out a teacher off the arts present." Most got up to leave as they heard everything but nova remind behind, Necro came over and bent down over her shoulder. "What are you doing class is over." he said. "I was hopping for some private lessons." "Well, I might have people come in to learn." "You said that if a teacher is present I can try in the class room." "Alight then, you start and I ll join in." Nova placed her finger on her desk and then she moved it in circles as wind picked up on the desk making a mini tornado. Lady moved closer as it grew Nova stood up and backed up as it got lager. "You are in control aren t you?" asked Necro. "Yeah, this is just getting fun." smiled Nova. It soon transformed to mist, cloud and fog and swirled around the room the movements that where smooth and the transitions seamless. "How are you doing that." wondered Lady as she moved in to centre of the room for a better view. "I don t know." said Nova as she turned it to water next and the water flowed to the floor to coat it in to a small pool, before becoming steam and dissipating. "It seems you natural magic is stronger, then most." said Necro. "Wait, natural magic?" Wondered Nova. "Yes, that is magic that occurs naturally, many creatures such as dragons have it and some humans as well, it s mainly seen in Necromancers." "So I m, stronger." "Yes the natural magic is stronger in mixed species such as Dragon-born s." "Meaning that my magic power is stronger and I learn faster." "Precisely, but due to your natural magic, it makes things easier for you learn and pick up." Nova clicked her fingers and made the room fill with fire then put it out. "With your magic you might even be able to cause natural disasters." smiled Necro "Speaking off, I think are friend should be brought back." The Dragon reappeared in his chair and raced out of the class. "The wired thing is this is my major so what will minors be like." thought Nova "Who knows, but I think enough time here and you still might be able to master your classes in one day." replied Necro. "But you will need to be tested afterwards." "Oh I better look for my next class, I only need to pass like you said." as she raced off. "Good luck." he called. "What do we do next?" thought Lady. "I have already excepted the role, but things her change daily, besides my class can be taught by anyone." The two hugged happy to be with Nova again. Down the hall Nova was again running late for another class, which was like the other one and already in session. Miss Bella was residing over the class. "Enchantments require a bit more flare when it comes to making sure the enchantment is in fact on the object." she said showing two images of swords the chalk board a one was plan and the other and a glow around it. "To achieve this many of you may want to step in to a class on allusion magic." Nova entered in and took empty seat on the quite full classroom. "Thank you for joining us Nova." she said lowering her head in a sigh. "The rest of us know when class starts." raising it back up. "Well I could always wait for the next one." she remarked. "Very well, why don t you explain to the calls how to use allusion magic to show something has been enchanted?" Purposed miss Bella crossing her arms. "You use a spell to crate lights of imaginary wavy lines around the object or in the case of people case it only before the person to see who wants to done." smiled Nova. Miss Bella just looked at her. "I took the intuitive to study before class." said Nova. "Anyway." continued Miss Bella. "Enchantments have different levels of strength depending of the one you use." A student tried to get Nova s attention by calling o her in whispers, Nova in true magic fashion used wind magic to blow him out of his seat. Miss Bella spun around and saw the student on the floor. "Stop laying around on the floor." she scolded. The student returned to his seat, Nova just laughed to her self as she continued learning. Later in the court yard Nova was practising her magic, it was such a spectral as she moved the elements around as she was flaying it only added to the sceptical by breathing them right from her own mouth as they collided in the sky. A crowd had gathered to watch in including Necro and Lady, the on lookers where admiring her great and bountiful show of power and magic. Miss Bella soon came out. "What is this?" she blurted with disgust. "Oh my start pupil is showing of what she learned is class." boasted Necro. "You teach Elemental for beginners how come she is able to do that?" she protested. "Shut up." said Necro as he killed her. As soon as she was goon Nova soon came back to the ground and changed form. "Great job." beamed Lady. "Thank you." she smiled. "How many classes have you taken." "Well, all my beginner classes but I ve seemed to pick up quite a lot." "And it s not even diner." smiled Necro. "Who do we talk to about her graduation?" asked Lady. "That would be the head teacher." said Necro. "Didn t you just send her to…" "I killed her there is no after life, you just ascend to a higher plain of existence, I ve been sending people there all day." "Is that true?" asked Nova. "No, but there are sorts of after life s, but there more like half lives." "Why do you take the body though?" asked Lady "No one else does." "If I took the soul they would come back in shock, and that s what the others do, it s cruel and can cause problems for the returnee." "Oh." He shrugged as he brought back Miss Bella. "What up B?" asked Necro jokingly. "I m going to speak to the guild about this." "I am on the guild." "I know, but you actions preformed on me are out of bounds." "What about the students." "WHAT!" "Well, I ve been sending them there all day to." She was stunned. "Why don t you call off." he said and sent her back. The three left laughing. In the food hall the three where having a good helping of dinner. "I don t get it." said Nova looking around. "Get what?" asked Necro. "Well this is a school, but also houses the guild and I don t get it." "From what I picked, each guild controls their magic and has to make sure it doesn t get miss used and also pass it on." Explained Lady "I guess having you on staff you got the grand tour." said Necro. "Well, yes." "I didn t I was just told where the staff rooms are and the other high end stuff." "Like what." "The way to the balcony and the vault." "What s that." "The vault contains anything that has magical qualities that can not be taken away, as not be missed used." "Like what?" asked Nova. "A device that can drain your magic from you, and give to others." "That seems wrong." "That s why it s locked up, that and the fact they guild uses it to stop anyone from getting to powerful that s not a Necromancer who can just kill them and walk away." he said. Miss Bella came up to them. "Necro." she grunted. "Yes?" he asked looking behind him to see her. "I have spoken to the guild, they want you to stop teaching." "What about the guild it self." "You can stay, as your the only on we can trust." "Well, ounce Nova graduates tomorrow, we ll leave." "But your post." "I have someone fill in for me." "Who." "Oh, um, I guess I ll have to get someone else, I ve put him in charge of my operations." "You can t." "He will be a puppet though which I talk." "Oh." The then waved a hand and she was gone. "I never get tired of that." "What do you keep doing that?" asked Nova. "I have my reasons." The three finished up. It was dark before she was brought back. The next day was the time for Noval s trial the guild had gathered in the hall and they all sat down at a table out side Nova was trying to reaming clam with Lady s help. "It s okay." said Lady as she put her hands on Nova s shoulders. "Is it going to be?" she worried. "You ve only been one day and you have already mastered everyone of your topics." Nova smiled. "Now, show them that your ready Nova took a deep breath and and walked in she looked to see the guild waiting for her "Now to pass you must show us you mastered you magic skill." said the first. "Firstly is Elemental, so when ever your ready." Nova proceed to fill the room with water, air, earth, fire, then added snow, ice, lighting, lava, and all the other things the four can be combined to create. Then she moved them around the room at short and fast speeds to show them off before it was stopped and they all vanished. "Next is enchantments." said the Second. "You must enchant at least one thing with a level five minimum." She thrust out her hands and the room was covered in a glow of orange. "That proves nothing." butted in Miss Bella. Nova proceed to fly up in her dragon form then breath rocks at the floor and all four walls, at the speed they came out the room should have been in tatters but was in fact fine. "That clears it." said the first. "You pass you major is Elemental and minor is uh enhancements." "Thank you" Nova bowed. "Okay I m off." said Necro leaving. Nova smiled as he joined her and the two left, as they exited the room Nova was joined by Lady. She had was ready to take her form and take the next step in her dragon hood.
