Chapter 7 Magic & Dragons

Inside the rock Nova and Necro had cleared some space and Lady was sitting in the chair. "Have you ever breathed fire before?" he asked. "Ounce when I was angry." "Your emotions can trigger magic, but you can try and trigger those thoughts, to try and get a reaction, just don t let you self come in to your emotions." he warned. Nova nodded and got her self ready, before she filled her minds with anger thought's then a long stretch of flame came from her mouth. "Keep at it, and when you can conjure it with a single thought you ve mastered fire breathing." "Thank you." smiled Nova. Necro just moved over to Lady. "Nice to see you two getting alone." she said as Necro sat on the arm of the chair. "She gave me unlimited control over my dragon half I can only return the favour." "Is that the only reason." teased Lady. "Yes." The two watched as Nova continued her practice. "Since your picking it up fast we can go out side and work on changing forms." said Necro. "Yes." smiled Nova and raced up the stairs. Lady and Necro followed her up stairs, they came outside but as they exited the cave they where not in a filed. Looking around they stood in circular room with five small balconies above them with four aged men and women standing in them. "Where are we?" asked Nova. "No where good." growled Necro. "What does that mean?" asked Lady. "Welcome to the Magic Users Guild." said one of the four. "I can kill you all with a single thought." he warned "I ve done a lot worse." "Yes we now." said a second. "All the renaming Necromancers who escaped have come back, to the guild." Necro was protective of Nova and Lady. "We want you to head the Necromancers as they are in need of a leader." said a third. "Let me get this straight, you brought me to for a job offer." "Yes." said the fourth. "And you had to drag me here for that reason alone." he said raising a hand. The four panicked and they where gone with in an instant, then came back breathing heavily. "Put, us, back!" he demanded. The guild did just that. Back of the open mountain top they found them selves in the high winds and short grass. "I hate those pricks, but they have all the power and dominion over magic." he said as she looked out at the sky. "What do you mean?" asked Nova. "Out side the world magical creatures, the ones born with inherent abilities, they govern all human magic users and even other creatures attend to learn other magic skills, I was forced to go to home my skills." "What now?" asked Nova. "We get back to your training. First you need to close your mind." said Necro. "Why?" "To become a dragon, you first must learn to focus on your form then start to fill the void until you can do it by will alone." Nova closed her eyes and stood stile and tranquil as she began to invasion her self as a dragon, her skin changed to scales and as they changed her body shifted wings sprouted and she grew ten times her size in to a full sized Dragon, then shrunk to a smaller one. Her clothes vanished and she was opened her wings to embrace her knew form. "Even Dragons need to grow." said Necro as he grew in his Dragon form and was no much smaller as he was before. "Your size changed." said Nova, thinking he had shrunk. "No I can grow on will, as it s a form, you can not your size will grow as you age." "So what do we next?" "You need to lean to fly." smiled Necro. Lady stepped back as the two took off, Nova found it easier to fly now she was able to hold her form. "Your doing it." cheered Lady. "Now all you have to do is practice." smiled Necro. Nova did all the day she spent learning to control her powers to some degree. That night as Nova slept as a dragon on bed of gold, Lady and Necro spoke. "What do you think she will have to learn next?" she asked peering in to the room. "Magic." replied Necro scanning for books. "But what type?" "All magic users have a major and minor magic skill." "I don t follow." "Everyone has a skill which is dominate, mine is Necromancy and a skill which is weaker but still strong, mine is Elemental." "So Nova." "Will have to choose her own magic, she will have to return to the guild." "Yes, but after what you did." "My power is great enough to wipe out the world, but I choose to heal, I only use it to knock sense in to those who try and use me or kill those who don t deserve life." "You act as judge jury and executioner" "No, I can tell by the way they act. But only today did I do either of those things, I m not a monster just cruel." "Your still the same man then." "Yes, but Nova will never be the same, but her Dragon might have other options for her magic." "Why." "Dragon-borns are rare, they came about if the Dragon wants or needs one." "How do you know." "I ve read about it in the book on Dragons, it was written by them." The two peered in to see Nova ounce more. "Lets join her." said Necro. "We need some sleep." Lady smiled and two moved over to join her, all curling up. The next mooring Nova left the cave to see the Dragon she had chosen to fly but still using the glasses, as she entered the cave. He saw how much she had grow as to him he know saw her as Human as she had mastered her form. Even Necro saw her in this way, her school uniform was no longer what Nova saw but a gown own red and white dress. "You have grow." smiled the Dragon. "Yes." Nova, smiled back. "Now it s time for you to train in magic." "Where do we begin." "You must travel to the Magic Users Guild to choose your magic then and only then will you only be able to finally come in to your own." "What happens after that?" asked Nova. "That s what you will discover after your return." he said. Nova was worried of his parting words. At the cave Necro was making potions to refill the ones he had used, Lady was in the chair reading a book with Death was on the mirror talking back. "You have to be mad, you know that." said Death. "I did what I had to." "You didn t need to kill all of them." "I left enough alive." "Death." called Lady "If you can, do you mind checking up on Nova for me?" she asked. "No need." said Nova as she came down the stairs. "What did the Dragon tell you to do next?" asked Lady putting her book down. Nova was unsure "I need to train in magic of my choice." "Well congratulations." said Necro "What are you going to choose." "I don t know, what am I meant to do." worried Nova. Necro stopped his work and came over to Nova who was starting to get worried and panicked. "Don t worry we ll help you." said Lady as she got up and started to cuddle her. "The only place you will have to go to is the Magic User Guild to learn magic." said Necro. "But, even after what you did." worried Nova. "Yes, they are obliged to expect everyone, but there are a few things you are going to need to know before arrive." "Lets get you ready." said Lady as she moved to make her some food for the trip. "The main things you have to know is magic is telepathic." "Yes you already told me." said Nova. "Well when the teachers will be using their hands it s only to show they are using magic, you can show them up with more fancy movements." he said "Second everyone there is not going to be human, many of them may de dragons or other magical creatures." "Like me?" asked Nova. "Yes but many might be full dragons and some half-borns, but mots of all, you must pick a major and minor in magic." he continued "Lastly you will be forced to stay there until you ve mastered you magic skills." The two hugged and Lady came over to join in. "I m going to miss you." she sobbed. "Me two." sobbed Nova. The three soon broke off. "It s time to leave." said Necro. The three parted up the stairs and as they reached the outside Lady and Necro stopped going any further and Nova walked out further away from the rock, looking back to see them. "You ll need to head to the south east coast." said Necro. "Good luck." Nova smiled and she took the sky s in her dragon from tacking flight over the land. Necro and Lady waved her goodbye as she soared high in to the heavens. "It s such a shame we can t go with her." sighed Lady. "We have no reason to go back to the guild." replied Necro. Lady turned and looked at him "You know we acutely do." As nova was flying though the sky she saw much beauty of the world passing scenic water falls and lush lakes, the beauty of the natural world was at her finger tips. As she peeked past the clouds to the world below looking on at castles city s and soon spotted the guild, by the five towers. Diving down she slowly circled around and came down close to an entrance on a cobblestone pathway, landing she turned back in to a human. Standing before her was a set of five decorative archways with a lush hedge garden either side. Each of the arch ways was uniquely decorated and as Nova walked forward she noted how each one represented a type of magic. One was coated in bright colours with markings of fire, earth, water and air, to represent Elemental magic, the four interacted with each other the arch. The second was coated in wavy lines and was made of a mixture dark colours, to call upon and represent Physical Magic, as the liens intertwined with the arch they bulged out and wound around it. The third was heavily coated in purple and black, it was Necromancy with out question, but the added bones and skulls did add an aura to it. The fourth was made of more silver and gold it was used in more vivid imaginary style to show one turn in to the other, a clear sign of Transmutation. The fifth was covered in white lines mixed with with vibrant purples greens and oranges, it could only be Entrenchments. As she passed under them she arrived in to a large court yard, it was circular with a path being carved though the grass verges in between making it look like a maze, from a sky view. She looked around as five large towers one of each of the five different major magic's represented by the archways, each one the same but decorated like the arches. It was sparling with life as many people where busy talking and travelling between the towers or studying out side. They towers where attached to a large castle complex that housed the guild itself. Nova felt her glasses in her pocket as someone rudely nudged her to pass by, remembering the effect how she saw the world she wondered what would happen now. As she applied them to her face she was able to see which classmates where human and which where pikes fairy s and dragons in disguise. Unsure on what to do or where to go, she walked on to the middle tower of Necromancy and peered inside to see that the halls of each area matched the magic they taught and represented. Nova walked on, she was soon swept up by one of the guild heads. They where in humanoid dragon form, they had a white colour to their scales and wore and enchanting robe. They had taken a more smaller size of an adult female as not to tower over their other magic users. "My name is Miss Bella, I m the head Enchantments and teacher of the subsequent classes." she said to Nova. "I m Nova, and I ve come to learn magic." she said. "As does everyone else, who comes here. Now come with me." said said in response. Leading Nova away they saw the halls change to a more basic form, as they passed though the halls used by all different students and guild members. "Each guild a it s own dorm, the canteen is open open for three meals, ounce you have chosen your classes you will be assigned to your major dorm." she explained. The shared areas where made of a white stone know was Dragon Quartz a substance created though Dragon fire. They reached a large hall where a large group of new students where lined up to sign up for their classes. "You will sign up then report to the main hall." she Miss Bella. "Okay." said Nova. Miss Bella left and Nova kept looking a head to see when it would become her turn. Every so often the line moved and when Nova reached the end she was confronted with a table and another teacher. "Tick the boxes of every class you want to take," they said. Nova looked down at the paper as she picked up the quill and dabbed it in the ink. Her options where Elemental, Physical, Necromancy, Transmutation & Enchantments for a major and Elemental, Physical, Transmutation, Enchantments, Nature, Conjuring, Fertility, Potions, Dark magic, Manipulation, Allusion & several more as minors. Her mind was racing over the options, her mind was overwhelmed in the end she chose Elemental magic as major and Physical, Enchantments, Nature, Conjuring, Dark magic, Manipulation and Allusion as minors. After she had sighed the paper it was taken and she was directed away to a door. The main hall was large in size and housed tables a chairs all with the end reversed for the teachers and heads of the guild. As Nova walked in she noticed more and more magic users that where no human, she chose to sit in open space between two other new students. Ounce every one had arrived the head teacher Miss Bella spoke up. "Welcome, new students, we are glad to have you here. I m your head teacher I also will be teaching some of your classes. Before we start we have a new guild member joining us and he will also be tacking over some classes." Nova looked over she was shocked to see who the new teacher was. "I hope you will respect Mr Necro." she said as he took over. "Hello students, I have taught magic before and if you don t pay attention I will kill you." he said before leaving the hall. "I m sure he ll bring you back." said Miss Bella tacking over. "No I wont!" he called back as she left the hall. "You will find that it s hard to learn you way around, so you will be giving a map of he guild to learn and use to traverse your way around, your lessons will start tomorrow." Every waited as the teachers came round handing out maps. Later in the Necromancer tower Necro was standing in centre just off the spiral stair case standing still trying to make the students fear his raff, as they walked past. As the a few passed him by thinking he was wired Nova approached him. "What are you doing her?" she asked. "Lady wanted to go with you." he replied. "Is that all." smiled Nova. "No, I think both me a Lady want to see you safe until the end of time." he smiled "Besides you still have my asylum and your under my protection." Nova smiled and left heading back towards her dorm room.
