Ella’s POV Two days passed a lot faster than I expected. Two days closer to Liam’s impending death. Two days of watching my mate struggle to breathe, watching him cough into napkins and leave behind bloody stains on white fabric. Two days of emotional torment. Each moment felt like agony, and yet somehow, it passed a lot more quickly than I expected. Maybe that was because I kept myself occupied with Lucien, with Lilith, and with Anya. Maybe it was because I spent my spare moments planning for a wedding that might never come, as if picking out flowers and streamers would somehow stave off Alexander’s impending doom. Or maybe it was just because I was caught in a haze ever since I heard the news. Liam would die any day now. The doctor had contacted Alexander on Wednesday. He had been monitoring Liam’s condition closely and had come to the conclusion that there was nothing left to be done. Liam was going to die, and there was no knowing exa
