Chapter 7279
A few minutes later, the scent of blood faded from the office. Harvey narrowed his eyes slightly, his expression grim. Based on his earlier deduction, Dan and his men wouldn't have made another move at this stage.
Unexpectedly, an assassin still showed up.
However, Lanny didn't press the issue. Instead, she was surprisingly calm. After a long silence, Lanny finally said in a low voice, "Mr. Harvey, if I'm right, Dan will reveal all his cards during the Hierophant's birthday celebration and seize power. They didn't make any move on you because they've decided to be patient. Meanwhile, sending an assassin after me serves as a warning. Only then would there be no one betraying them."
"However, Dan made a mistake. From the moment I left, there was already a gaping opening in his faction," Lanny added before pulling out a document and handing it to Harvey.
Harvey skimmed through the documents, and there was a strange glint in his eyes. All he could say was that abandoning Lanny was Dan's greatest loss.
The evidence Harvey was holding in his hand also made it clear that on the day of the Hierophant's birthday, the entire Grand City would not know peace.
That was why, after Harvey had left Platinum Casino, Harvey sent Mandy out of Grand City with Rachel as her escort, despite her objections. Meanwhile, Harvey decided that once the Hierophant's birthday party was over and everything in Grand City had stabilized, he would leave them as well.
Soon, the Hierophant's birthday arrived right on schedule.
Though the celebration lacked the grandeur, Harvey figured it was because of Wenzel's return. Those at the top of the hierarchy in Grand City as well as the Seven Families still gathered to celebrate the Hierophant's birthday together with him.
No matter how many factions there were within Grand City, they still needed to put on a united front on a day like this for the world to see the city was still as mighty as ever.
Thus, on Hierophant's birthday, the entire Grand City was filled with celebration.
Grand City's local media and online platforms began to bombard everyone's phones with updates.
"Harvey, the Hierophant isn't just anyone," Alexei said softly in his Range Rover. "If my teacher didn't come back, he's practically the most powerful figure in all of Grand City. Give him another decade, and even his return won't matter much. It's lucky that he returned in time. Still, removing the Hierophant's influence completely from Grand City won't be easy."
Alexei sighed deeply when he reached this part of the conversation.
"Not necessarily. His birthday party today isn't going to be a peaceful one," Harvey said with a calm smile. "Other than the Hierophant and Mayor Wenzel, I expect quite a few others will stir up trouble today. Just stick close to me and enjoy the show. I'll protect you."
"Bro! You really are my bro! You're better than my real brother!" Alexei said, touched. "Don't worry. I'm not leaving your side, no matter what."
Harvey chuckled and changed the subject. "Where are Mayor Wenzel and Vaida, anyway?"
"Haven't seen either of them," Alexei said. "My teacher and Vaida visited the Priesthood of the Sacred Keep a few days ago. One is because of their identity. And then, I think there are some things that they need to handle beforehand."
