Victoria's icy demeanor hit Theodore like a punch to the gut, but he knew talking more now would only make things worse.
"Victoria, just give me some time. I'll make things right," Theodore said through clenched teeth before turning and walking away.
Victoria didn't even look at him—she completely missed the pain flickering in his eyes.
"You okay, Vic?" Henry asked, frowning as she stood there without moving.
"I'm fine. Henry, I'm sorry about today," she replied, wiping away a tear before facing him.
Henry saw the redness around her eyes—it was obvious she'd been crying.
His heart ached for her. But no matter how much she tried to hide it, he could tell she still cared about Theodore.
How could anyone hurt someone like Victoria? She didn't deserve this.
"If anything ever comes up, promise me you'll let me help. Don't carry it all on your own," Henry said softly before taking his leave.
At Chambers Group, Theodore had just wrapped up a pile of paperwork when he called in his assistant,
