Maya’s POV
The dimly lit lights attached to the wall cast terrible shadows that made my heartbeat pound in my ears. I swallowed hard, knowing I wouldn’t be down here for long. I wanted to see Kieran, to demand the answers he owed me. Why had he done what he did to me?
“Luna Maya?” one of the guards leapt up from his seat, put down his cigar, bowed his head, and I rolled my eyes. I didn’t have time to discuss anything with these guards.
“Open Kieran’s door. I need to speak to him,” I insisted. He hesitated.
“Like now. What the hell are you waiting for?” I clenched my fists at my sides and glanced over my shoulder. I was certain that either Max or Leo had followed me and would try to stop me.
But there was no sign of either of them.
“Don’t try to stop me, and don’t tell the alphas a thing about me being here, or you’ll lose your head,” I warned the guard. His eyes widened, and he sat back down, letting me pass freely.
