Chapter 17
Eileen's POV
After listening to Brett's entire story, I felt my whole body turning red, shame filling my mind. I actually scolded the person who saved my child—even my own mate. I'm not a competent mother, nor a qualified mate.
After explaining, Brett left to report the witches' movements to Arthur. I could sense his sadness, and it was all because of me. When I heard footsteps behind me, I turned and left.
"Eileen, Eileen wait! wait up" I heard Alex call but I ignored him, holding Amber tighter, I walked towards the packhouse.
He ran after me, his footsteps pounding the pavement. Finally, he caught up to me, grabbing my arm and spinning me around. "Eileen, what's wrong?" he asked, his eyes scanning my face. I could see the concern in his eyes, the worry that something was terribly wrong.
I shook my arm free. "What do you want, Alex?" I asked, my voice sharp.
