Chapter 20
Eileen's POV
I rushed back to the driver's side, Amber's hand clutched tightly in mine. "There's an emergency," I told the driver in an urgent tone "We need to head back to the park house immediately." The driver nodded without a word and quickly turned the car around, speeding back to the park house at a fast but safe pace. Amber looked up at me, her eyes wide with fear and she moved closer to me.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" she asked, her voice trembling. I knelt down beside her and kissed her forehead, trying to reassure her.
"Nothing's wrong, sweetie," I said. "I just need to take care of something, and I'll be fine. Ella will take care of you, and you need to be a good girl, okay?" Amber nodded, looking a bit more calm, but I could still see the fear in her eyes. I felt a little guilty knowing she was scared because of how I was acting.
