"If you hop around a few more times, you'll twist your good ankle too. At that point, you can forget about crutches. You might as well use a wheelchair."
Nadia was furious. She punched him on the shoulder, though there was hardly any strength behind it.
"Callum! How many times do I have to tell you? Stop picking me up without asking!"
She really hated this kind of close physical proximity. All she wanted was to keep her distance.
His cold voice cut through the air. "Nadia, if you hadn't been injured and if you hadn't lost my child, do you really think I'd be keeping you here to recover?"
After a pause, he added, "Don't get any ideas. You should know exactly what we are."
He was reminding her, deliberately, that they had already signed the divorce papers.
Her anger flared. "Callum, put me down right now and have someone take me back to my apartment. I don't need your protection, Mr. Ford. I can't afford your kind of security."
Callum made a show of tossing her off, and she panic
