The person who entered was Lacey Ford, the youngest daughter of the Ford family's second son.
She had just graduated from university and often came to Franhill Manor to paint. A sketch easel was slung casually over her arm as she stepped lightly into the room.
"Wait… Is this my cousin-in-law?"
Callum recognized her but immediately moved forward, trying to help Nadia up. But she pushed him away with sudden force.
"Callum, what do you think you're doing?" Her voice was sharp and cold. "If you're this terrified of being near me, then don't touch me," she snapped through clenched teeth, her eyes full of resistance.
Lacey's smile faltered. She quickly put down her easel and walked over.
"Did you get hurt?" she asked with concern, her gaze drifting to the visible splint on Nadia's left wrist and the awkward angle of her ankle.
"Why don't I help you back to your room to rest?"
"Thank you, Cece." Nadia's tone softened, a sliver of warmth threading through her words.
