Ella was in the kitchen baking cookies for Oliver — he'd been sweet-talking her for days about it.
She picked up the tray full of cookie dough and slid it into the oven, then walked to the doorway and gently told the servant, "Let me know when they’re done, alright? I’ll be upstairs in the studio."
"Will do, Luna," the servant nodded at her.
No one really turned down Ella's requests—not because of her title, but because of her kindness.
She tugged down her sleeves and opened the door to her art room. Since she had time while the cookies baked, she figured she might as well get a head start on the landscape painting she'd been planning—something about the Maple Pack’s territory.
Even though she’d skipped dinner with Oliver tonight, she still felt content. The Maple Pack was known for their spicy, flavorful food, and from where she stood, she could see the crimson leaves outside the window.
