Weill paused, confused. "Seriously?"
Matthias let out a long sigh.
"She’s still too into me. What am I supposed to do with that? I was trying to make her give up on me!"
"We were literally arguing, and then she’s all worried about me again? It’s exhausting."
He shook his head, checked himself out in the mirror with a smug grin, then hummed a tune as he walked off.
On his way, he tipped a passing server generously.
Back in the booth, Matthias sprawled on the leather couch, legs wide, half-lying down. The collar of his shirt was unbuttoned—two buttons undone because it was way too hot.
"This sucks. I’m heading out."
Always the guy who’d rather stay out all night, this was the first time Matthias actually felt being at a bar was boring.
"It’s just eleven!" Weill looked at him like he’d grown a second head.
Usually, even with a curfew, Matthias would still sneak back right at the last minute.
