“Can I ask you something, Franklin?” Jacob asked.
“Yes, Mr. Jacob,” Franklin replied.
Jacob leaned in slightly. “Franklin, don’t you like Aaron?”
Franklin frowned. “What do you mean by that, Mr. Jacob?”
Jacob held his gaze. “If Aaron isn’t your brother, then what’s the issue with your daughter liking him?”
Franklin looked at Tati. She met his eyes but said nothing.
“Don’t take it the wrong way,” Jacob said with a soft smile. “I’m just sharing what’s on my mind.”
Jacob’s thoughts:
I can’t just come out and tell him to call off the wedding. But maybe I can help him see the difference between a diamond and a shard of glass.
Franklin answered, “I don’t want to talk about Aaron right now, Mr. Jacob.”
“That’s fine,” Jacob said. “I’m not here to pressure you. But Franklin—never judge someone by their roots.”
Meanwhile...
As soon as Joe caught on to what Ivy was saying, he smirked. “You really think it’s going to work now? After everything?”
Ivy pushed him away, her expression tight with anger
