Chapter 17

Diana hadn't brought stew to the office for several days. At first, Vincent had no idea. He only realized something was off when Gabriella messaged him and asked why the stew hadn't been delivered to her. That was when Vincent found out Diana hadn't been to the company for days. Diana had been delivering stew every day for almost half a month, so Vincent was somehow disappointed when she suddenly stopped doing it. Strangely, he was anxious, too. It was as though something was slipping away, and he felt empty deep down. It was 12:00 am. Vincent, who was keeping Gabriella company as usual, suddenly got up. He put on a coat and was about to rush home. When Gabriella was shooting the horror film, Vincent spent his days handling business. As soon as he wrapped up his work, he had his chauffeur, Antonio Sanchez, send him to meet Gabriella. He had rented a presidential suite in a five-star hotel near the film site and booked it for over three months. Three months later, Gabriella would be done with the shoot. Vincent had planned to stay with Gabriella until she was done with the shoot, then go back to the villa and spend more time with Diana. He suddenly wanted to leave in the middle of the night, and the noise alerted Gabriella, who was sleeping next door. Wearing a low-cut nightgown, Gabriella walked out in a daze while rubbing her eyes. "Vincent, are you heading back to the office this late?" Vincent replied in a low voice, "No, I'm going home." Gabriella was triggered at the mention of "home" and clenched her fists in frustration. He actually called the house where he stayed with Diana his home. In an instant, jealousy, hatred, and rage consumed Gabriella. Vincent was expressionless, and his presence was simply formidable. Gabriella knew him well. Judging by his actions, she knew he must have made up his mind to go back. Hence, it was pointless for Gabriella to say anything. Gabriella was good at reading the room. She knew exactly when to back down and draw the line. After all, she wasn't as foolish as Diana. Considering that Vincent was firm and not in a good mood, she knew it wouldn't do her any good if she were to go against him. "Okay, then. Hold on. Vincent, I need your help to bring something to Diana for me," Gabriella said with a smile. Then, she turned around and returned to her room to grab her bag. After rummaging through it for a while, she pulled out a pink bracelet. "Here. It's a diamond bracelet. I prepared this a long time ago, but I've been so busy with the shoot lately that I couldn't find the right time to give it to her personally. Could you help pass it to her?" She hesitated before continuing worriedly, "I'm not sure if she likes it. But I spent a long time choosing this." "She will." Vincent smiled and reached out to ruffle Gabriella's hair. "You're so sweet, so no one would refuse a gift from you." "Really?" Gabriella's eyes lit up. She secretly wondered if Vincent would like it if she were to offer herself as a gift for him. The streetlights glowed brightly in the night, making the surrounding greenery appear darker. It was drizzling and foggy at night. From a distance, everything seemed to be shrouded in mist. It felt as though the car had entered another world and lost its direction. Antonio drove steadily. Meanwhile, in the back seat, Vincent looked out the window and felt upset somehow. They finally arrived at the entrance of the villa, and the car gradually drove into the front yard. As soon as the chauffeur pulled over, someone immediately opened the door respectfully. For the past few days, Vincent would rush to keep Gabriella company immediately after he was done with his work. Hence, he hadn't had the time to get changed into casual clothes. Clad in an expensive suit, he got out of the car. It was half past one at night, so Diana was probably still fast asleep. Vincent stood in the living room for a long while and looked up toward the upper floor. The second floor was pitch-black and in complete silence. Vincent only went upstairs after a while. He didn't go to the master bedroom. Instead, he stood at the door of the guest room where Diana was staying now. After a while, Vincent finally reached for the doorknob to open the door. However, he couldn't turn to open it, as Diana had locked the door from inside. The rage that had been simmering inside him started surging. In the middle of the night, Vincent seemed to have lost his mind and went downstairs to have Maria bring him the key to the guest room. Maria's hair was messy as she rushed over to look for the keys for Vincent. There were a few spare keys for the guest room, so it didn't take long for Maria to find it. However, Maria was surprised that Vincent had come home in the middle of the night just to unlock Diana's door. It was simply ridiculous. "That's it. You can go back to bed, Maria." Vincent took the key and headed upstairs right away. As he inserted the key into the lock, the door opened before he could turn it. It was Diana. She wore a light blue nightgown, and her long hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her skin was flawless, and her features were strikingly beautiful. She bore a cold and distant demeanor. Vincent was stunned for a while at that sight. "Oh, you're awake?" he blurted out. Diana replied indifferently, "Yeah. You woke me up." "My bad," Vincent said. She shook her head and gripped the doorknob, ready to close the door again. "I'm going back to sleep." "Come to the master bedroom then," Vincent requested. Diana didn't reply a word, and a dead silence ensued. "Gabby will be busy filming with the crew for a while. She can't come back, so you should move back in," Vincent said. What did he mean by Diana could move because Gabriella wouldn't be around? Those words sounded especially ironic to Diana. A faint, mocking smile tugged at her lips, but her tone remained indifferent. "It's okay. I'm used to sleeping in this room now." "Diana Gyleon," he called out. "Can you please stop? We're married, and why would a couple sleep in separate rooms? What a joke!" "I don't know what kind of rumors the paparazzi will make up again if this reaches them," Vincent said, clearly displeased. Diana looked up and met his eyes with a half smile. "Vincent, did the paparazzi install surveillance cameras in our home?" Vincent was taken aback. "Why would you say that?" "If they didn't, then what are you worried about?" Diana questioned. Then, Diana said sarcastically, "The security around the villa is strict, and no outsiders can get in. The housekeepers have been working for the Hendrix family for a long time and can be trusted." "As long as we keep our mouths shut, no one will know about this." Diana stared intently at him. Vincent fell silent. Diana continued, "By the way, remember to tell Gabriella to keep her mouth shut and not go around telling the film cast and crew about this. As soon as she says nothing, the outsiders won't know that we're sleeping in separate rooms." "I've told you a million times. Gabby is just like my younger sister. You don't have to be so harsh with your words," Vincent said. Vincent would always lose his rag at the mention of Gabriella. Diana scoffed and didn't say another word as she slammed the door shut. Then, she quickly locked it. Having been given a cold shoulder, Vincent didn't press further and returned to the master bedroom with a scowl. There hadn't been anyone staying in the master bedroom for a long time, so it was quiet inside. The vanity, which was usually cluttered with things, was now clean. On the vanity were the makeup products Gabriella had left behind some time ago. Vincent grew more frustrated as he thought about it. He walked over and opened the wardrobe, only to find his own clothes inside. The other half of the wardrobe was completely empty. He pressed his lips tightly as anger simmered within him. With a cold expression, he rummaged through the wardrobe. Suddenly, he paused when he found a woman's clothing among his white shirts. The fabric was thin and soft. After picking it up, he noticed that it was a black lace thong and froze for a moment. Vincent and Diana had been married for seven years, but he had never seen Diana wear such revealing lingerie before.
