Chapter 5
Arthur had a foul expression on his face throughout the entire journey to the courthouse.
There weren't many people that day, so it only took us half an hour to get our divorce certificates.
After that, Arthur left in a rush. He wasn't even willing to give me a ride home.
But his behavior made sense considering how he was going to marry his beloved the next day.
That day, all the household staff—from the chef to the maids—were busy. They would usually greet me if they saw me, but that day, they only nodded before hurrying away.
I returned to my room and packed up the last of my belongings. I didn't have much. After all, I'd already sold everything I could in exchange for money. In the end, I only had two suitcases.
I carried my suitcases out of my room when everyone was distracted. I decided that it would be easier for me just to carry a handbag the next day.
There was still some time left, so I sent Mom and Dad a message, telling them that I would be joining them the next day.
