Chapter 8
After a while, Ronaim looked at her and said slowly, "Do I have your word?"
Karen laughed proudly. "If you open a press conference tomorrow, apologize to me publicly, saying that you intervened in my relationship with Nathan, and that you are a mistress, then I will keep my word. "
Karen turned and walked away, waved the test report in her hand. "The decision is in my hand. You have no choice."
Ronaim glanced at the examination room and turned and left. The Shaw's family had shares in this hospital. She wouldn't leave any traces of her examination in this hospital.
As soon as the news that a popular movie star would hold a press conference was known, various media ran to the hotel conference room in advance and occupied the advantaged places, for fear of missing the break news.
Ronaim stood on the stage, her eyes with profound expression. Her hair was put down and fell on her shoulders naturally, and her fair skin was glowing under the spotlight. She was wearing a creamy silk dress, which outlined her hour-glass figure. The crowd watched her and couldn't help but admired her beauty and agreed that she deserved the reputation of the top star in the show business. It was hard for any man not to fall for her.
Karen stood among the crowd, jealous gnawing her heart. She didn't think Ronaim was more beautiful than herself, but everyone here was staring at Ronaim in awe. Even Nathan, who was standing by Karen, was looking at the stage in a trance.
Ronaim was so gorgeous. Nathan thought of the time when she was lying beneath him and asked him to take mercy on her. Nathan was supposed to hate this woman, but somehow his hatred was less intense now. In the past, Ronaim's image in his mind was the one who looked miserable, pleaded him, or fought with him for something, but today, she was different. It was as if he met her for the first time. She was beautiful, a lot more beautiful than any other woman here.
Finding himself had some strange desire in his mind, Nathan clenched his fists and suppressed the thought instantly.
Ronaim felt a chill down her spine when her eyes met Nathan's in the distance. She looked away and saw Karen, who was leaning on Nathan. She pressed her lips into a line and smiled. The journalists finally snapped back from reverie and fought to ask the first question.
"Miss Joe, is it true that you and Nathan Shaw are going to divorce?"
"Miss Joe, I've heard that you were the other woman years ago. Nathan Shaw was forced to marry you. Is that true?"
Ronaim's eyes were gleaming brightly when she looked at the journalist who asked the question. He was standing beside Karen and his eyes were provocative. Ronaim understood what was happening, so she reached out her hand for the microphone, and then said, "Three years ago, Nathan Shaw and Karen loved each other. I intervened and broke their relationship. I have been very regret for these three years. Nathan and I are negotiating on divorce. I shall let you know once we reach an agreement."
This made the whole hall roar.
It was only conjectured earlier but now these words came directly from the person concerned, so the crowd was stirred immediately.
"Miss Joe, you meant you were a mistress then?"
"By what means did you make Nathan Shaw marry you?"
"Will you apologize to Miss Karen?"
Karen stood under the stage, smiling smugly as she nudged the man beside her. The man nodded, lifted a basket of eggs from the floor, and threw one by one to the stage, shouting, "Ronaim is a mistress. Ronaim, apologize! Apologize now!"
"Ronaim is a mistress!"
"Ronaim apologize! Apologize!"
So more people followed him and shouted. The whole conference room was chaotic.
From where Ronaim stood, she could see Karen's every movement. She kept her chin up and allowed the eggs and vegetables to fall on her. She didn't dare to look at Nathan's face. But she could guess his expression. He must look gloomy and expressionless. Even if she was beaten to death now. He didn't care about her at all.
Nathan pressed his lips into a line and his eyes looked cold. For a moment he felt that smothered.
Ronaim held the microphone and stood there steadily. She opened her mouth unhurriedly and said, "I, Ronaim, apologize to Ms. Karen. "
Her voice was very soft but fearless and decisive. Each word of hers stabbed the softest part of Nathan's heart like a needle. He was stunned and just felt pain spread on his chest and overwhelmed him, making him feel feeble.
Suddenly, he punched the wall angrily with his fist. "D*mn it!"
How could he possibly have that kind of emotion, and how could he be so distressed by that woman?
It was really ridiculous!
