Madeleine stayed silent, closing her eyes and pretending to faint.
She was afraid of being seen through.
Beckett's eyes were like a scorching sun as if they could expose her completely, leaving her nowhere to hide.
Carl glanced at Chris who was sitting in the passenger seat, holding the seat belt tightly without making a sound. He couldn't bear to see Chris sad and comforted Chris, "Your mom is alright. She will be fine."

He was not timid, nor was he afraid of blood; he was afraid of losing Madeleine.
