Madeleine looked up at Beckett and took a while to speak. "Mr. Beach, this is meaningless…"
If she mentioned Abigail and drew Abigail into this, she would only face reckless harm from Clinton and the Landry family.
All she wanted was to protect herself.
She was not like Beckett, born superior and powerful.
Beckett frowned. "If you allow people to bully you and don't know how to fight back, any harm you suffer is self-inflicted."
Beckett's voice was cold, making her somewhat afraid.
