Maya's POV
Luke was still in an induced coma and had not woken up yet. We stayed by his side all day. Oliver had someone install a special UV-protective screen on the window in Luke’s room to shield both of them from harmful rays. I could see how deeply shaken Oliver was by what Maeve had done. Luke wasn’t just a team member; he had been Oliver’s friend for centuries. And now, Oliver feared that Luke’s injuries might be too severe to fully recover from.
I was worried, too. I had heard nothing but good things about Oliver’s elite team, they were more than colleagues; they were family. His anger at Maeve and Reina simmered just beneath the surface. He was going to kill them once he found them. The betrayal cut deep, especially after all the time he had spent protecting them, believing their lies. He regretted not eliminating them when he had the chance, like he had gotten rid of the rest of their brutal circle.
