Maya's
As we walked toward the training area, I listened to the quiet conversation between Oliver and my mother ahead of us. Oliver carried a duffle bag, and I found myself wondering what was inside. Was he planning to stay closer to us now, in case Maeve showed up again?
I knew my mother had already spelled the house. Maeve had even mentioned this morning that she couldn’t get to me, which was reassuring. Still, if things escalated, I could always stay at the packhouse on the Alpha level until Maeve was found and dealt with.
Wade and I walked side by side, in the middle of the group. My mother and Oliver were about ten feet ahead, leading the way. She always arrived first to create the dome I trained inside. I hadn’t even attempted to create something that large yet. For now, my focus was purely on learning to defend myself. The rest would come later.
