Owen sat quietly for a long moment before a small, indulgent smile curved his lips. He gently brushed his hand through Aurora's hair, his voice soft as a whisper.
"Alright, sleep," he said.
Half-asleep, Aurora lazily nodded, blinking slowly as though trying to clear her thoughts. "I told you, I'm not drunk… My head just feels a little heavy, and everything's kind of floaty. I just need to sleep for a bit... I'm so tired..."
"Then sleep," Owen murmured.
He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her forehead, his fingers tucking the blanket around her shoulders. Just as he stood to leave, she grabbed his wrist.
"You should sleep too," she muttered, her voice laced with sleepy stubbornness. "It's not like I'm going to do anything to you..."
Her half-lidded eyes met his, her expression foggy but oddly sincere. Did she even realize what she was saying?
