Just then, Logan's phone buzzed, shattering the moment. He glanced at the screen and sighed. "It's the PR team. They need us to review the press statement for tomorrow."
Deonna nodded, slipping back into professional mode. "Of course. Let's go."
As they left the boardroom, both felt the unspoken promise of a conversation to come. But for now, there was still work to be done.
The next few days were a whirlwind of press conferences, board meetings, and damage control. Logan and Deonna worked tirelessly to reassure investors, calm nervous employees, and project an image of stability to the outside world.
It was during one particularly grueling press conference that the strain began to show. Logan was fielding questions about Daniel's betrayal when a reporter hit a nerve.
"Mr. Maine, given your close relationship with Daniel Thompson, how can investors trust your judgment moving forward?"
Logan faltered, his usual composure cracking. Deonna, seeing his distress, smoothly stepped in.
