CHAPTER EIGHTY ONE – THE CRACKS ARE VISIBLE
"Did you hear about Logan and that blonde woman?" one whispered.
"Emma? Yeah, I saw them having lunch together yesterday. They looked pretty cozy."
Deonna's hand froze midair, her heart skipping a beat.
"I heard they used to date. You think there's still something there?"
"Who knows? But she's gorgeous, and they have history. Poor Deonna, though. Being pregnant and having to deal with all this drama..."
Unable to listen any longer, Deonna abandoned her tea and hurried back to her office, her mind racing. Logan had lunch with Emma? Why didn't he tell her?
She sank into her chair, fighting back tears of frustration and uncertainty. The baby kicked, as if sensing her distress.
"It's okay, little one," she murmured, rubbing her belly. "Mommy's just being silly."
A soft knock on her door startled her. She looked up to see Nia, her best friend and confidante, peeking in.
"Hey, girl. You okay? You rushed out of the break room like you saw a ghost."
