Chapter 47 The High School Struggle.
The years had flown by, and now our little Lily was no longer the wide-eyed child who had marveled at the wonders of the world on our vacations. She was a teenager, poised on the threshold of high school, and like all teenagers, she was facing her own set of challenges.
"Mom, I can't find my favorite jeans!" Lily's voice echoed down the hall as she rummaged through her room. It was the first day of high school, and nerves were running high.
"They're in the laundry, sweetheart. Wear the black ones. They look great on you," I called back, trying to keep my tone calm and reassuring.
Lily sighed loudly, the universal sound of teenage frustration, but emerged from her room moments later, dressed and ready. Her dark hair was pulled into a sleek ponytail, and she had applied a bit of mascara and lip gloss, trying to balance between looking mature and not overdoing it.
"How do I look?" she asked, her eyes filled with a mix of excitement and anxiety.
