Chapter 71 The Revelation.
The sun hadn’t even risen when I finally rolled out of bed, my mind still buzzing with the revelation from the night before. I had barely slept, every time I closed my eyes, images of Marcus and his criminal empire flooded my thoughts. I knew I couldn’t keep this from Kai any longer. The stakes were too high, and we needed to act before Marcus made his next move.
As I walked down the hallway, the house was eerily quiet, the kind of silence that only comes before dawn. I found Kai in his study, already up and dressed, staring intently at his computer screen. He looked up as I entered the room, concern etched on his face.
"Vanessa? What’s going on? You look like you’ve seen a ghost."
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what I was about to say. "Kai, there’s something we need to talk about. It’s about Marcus."
His expression darkened immediately, and he pushed his chair back from the desk, giving me his full attention. "What about him? Did something happen?"
