Chapter 110
Jeremy's reply left Melody reeling. By the time she gathered herself, he had already gone.
The rain lasted all night and only stopped the next morning.
Once Melody finished drawing blood, she waited for the next shift to arrive so that she could clock out.
Carrying her treatment tray out of the ward, she nearly bumped into Jeremy as he came in. She opened her mouth to greet him, but he treated her as invisible, so she stayed silent.
At the nurses' station, another nurse was talking with Krystal. Melody's eyes fell on the coat draped over Krystal's shoulders. It was Jeremy's coat.
Jeremy was germophobic. At home, she could hardly touch his things, yet Krystal now wore his coat around her shoulders.
Krystal couldn't have grabbed it herself. Jeremy must have given it to her.
That kind of consideration was something Melody never enjoyed.
Her heart felt as though pricked by a needle, a small sharp hurt.
She lowered her lashes and forced herself not to look at Krystal's way.
