Chapter 1601
Seeing how his housemaids were ridiculing Stella behind their backs, Lucas thought the fault lay with him. "Stella, it's my fault for not properly managing my staff, you can scold or hit me if you want."
'Scold him!
'Hit him!
'What's the point?
'Will those people stop cursing my name once I've scolded and hit him?'
Moreover, Stella did not care about the unsolicited opinion of such people. "Mr. White, I wouldn't dare to hit you."
That sentence alone choked whatever Lucas wanted to say in his throat. "Let's... let's go have a look at the rooms then."
"Thank you," Stella said.
Lucas took her suitcase and led her into the elevator.
There were three floors in the villa, and before Lucas could even press the button for the third floor, Stella pressed the second floor's button.
Normally, the master bedroom was on the third floor while the guest rooms were on the second floor.
Now that she was in an unclear relationship with him, she would never go to his bedroom on the third floor.
"Stella, the master bedroom on the third floor is more spacious, and the clothes I've prepared for you are there as well. Stay on the third floor, it's so much more convenient."
"I got my own clothes," Stella declined.
Lucas could then only lead her to the guest room on the second floor. "It's getting late already, what do you want to eat for dinner?"
"You don't have to worry about me, I'll order delivery later," Stella said.
Lucas was at a loss for words.
Back then during his stay at the Dawson's residence, Grace had prepared a separate room for him but he would sneak into Stella's room every night.
Stella not only did not chase him away but was in fact enjoying having sex with him. Her enthusiasm made him feel that she still loved him, so much so that she wanted to bear his child...
Just when he harbored hope of getting Stella back, who knew she would proceed to ignore him the moment they stepped out of the Dawson's residence.
Stella refused to accept Lucas's various offers of kindness, but after making sure that Stella had settled down, Lucas got someone to prepare dinner.
At the dining table, Lucas served Stella cuts of meat and soup, as diligent as a puppy wanting to please its master.
Stella did not have much appetite and put down her cutlery after just having half a bowl of soup. "I'm done. I'll go to bed first."
Lucas held her. "Does the food not suit your palate?"
"I just don't feel like eating," Stella replied.
"Go get some rest then. If you want to eat them later, I'll get someone to heat it up," Lucas said.
Stella did not say anything as she pulled her hand away and left.
Seeing that Stella did not want to eat, Lucas too lost his appetite. "Patricia, I'm going out for a bit. Help me look after Stella. If she's hungry and wants supper, make something for her."
Patricia Nunez had taken care of Lucas for many years now and won his trust, so he transferred her over to this place.
Patricia smiled and said, "Just leave Stella to me, but where are you going? Just let her know, just in case."
Lucas then said glumly, "She doesn't care where I go at all... Let her rest first. I'll try to come back early."
