Chapter 19
The two of them stepped out of the house. Louise glanced past Dominic toward a nearby corner. She had lived there for years, but at this moment, she didn't want him to know.
"My car's still at the bar. Can you drop me off at the office?"
Dominic gave a low chuckle, his voice smooth and pleasant. "Perfect, it's on my way. I'll pick you up after work."
Louise quickly shook her head. She had an online meeting later in the evening. "Don't bother. I might be working late tonight anyway."
Dominic didn't seem fazed. He simply nodded in acknowledgment.
At the Bennett office, Louise had just come out of a morning meeting when her phone on the desk began ringing.
The name flashing across the screen was Ava. "You're up early for once-what's up?"
Ava was still in the car, just as the light turned red. She hit the brakes and ran a hand through her messy hair while checking the rearview mirror. "Your husband's not bad. I'm on my way to meet Edgar now."
