"Louise." A low voice called out from behind.
Dominic stood there, clearly sensing the disconnected vibe that set her apart from the surrounding crowd. It tugged at something deep in his chest.
Louise turned her head, and when she saw him, her eyes widened in surprise. A tired but genuine smile tugged at her lips. "Wait, what? You're here too? Small world."
"Not really. I saw your car back at the intersection. Was gonna call out to you, but I guess you didn't hear me."
He strode over and plopped down on the stone bench next to her, glancing sideways. "You said at lunch you'd treat me to a meal."
It was already pushing 9:30 PM, and she'd pretty much disappeared off the radar since that message.
Louise rubbed her hands together, looking a bit guilty. "Shoot, I totally forgot! Why didn't you call to remind me?"
"I did," he said softly.
She dug into her bag for her phone and saw the string of missed calls. "Oh... I had it on silent after that meeting and forgot to switch it back."
