Grace Riley stared blankly at Emma Russell and the doctor whispering to each other. She wanted to ask what was going on, but her body simply gave out—she slipped into unconsciousness.
Just then, the police showed up. One of them turned to Benjamin Russell and said, “We’re investigating a case of intentional assault, and your daughter is the prime suspect. We need her to come with us.”
Benjamin’s face twisted in disbelief. “What kind of nonsense is this? Just because Emma has some mental issues doesn’t mean she’s behind everything! This is not fair!”
“Mental issues?” the officer raised an eyebrow.
“No, no, I misspoke,” Benjamin quickly backtracked. “Officer, you know Emma’s always been kind-hearted, but lately she’s been framed again and again. We just haven’t had any proof to clear her name. Something fishy’s going on here, that’s for sure.”
