Chapter 128: Chokehold

Sets made me depressed, but the person I came to see didn’t need to know that. Seeing everyone strive for something worthwhile, pushing for something as amazing as what the whole world would see, was mind-blowing. I remembered the first time I came to a set. Mom took me to see Kassandra’s first show. Everyone patted Mom on the back and looked at me weird. I could almost hear it.
“She’s not nearly as cute or charming as her little sister.” They had that look in their eyes, and I knew it.
My trips to sets were usually few and far between over the years, which came as a relief to me. But I needed to talk to her. I felt like I was going to explode.
“Kassandra!” I barked at one of her assistants. “Where is she?”
The assistant, a young man who looked like he had been breathing through his mouth all his life and was incidentally riddled with buck teeth, stumbled back with wide eyes.
