On our way to the mall, Ana would not stop grilling me about my failed relationship with Sandra. At last, I was forced into telling her our story, and after I did, I trusted Ana to react the exact way I had expected her to.
“So she broke up with you when she realized you were a contract worker?”
“Well, not really. I noticed the change of behavior after I told her I was a contract worker. Can you bel—”
Ana however interrupted me. Apparently she really didn't understand what to say about my methods. “You didn't tell her.” She chirped in casually, turning to look at me from the passenger side. “You lied to her.”
“Well,” I ran my fingers through my hair. “You could say that.” I shrugged.
“Care to explain why you did that?”
“I just wanted to make sure her feelings for me were sincere. So, I told her that to see her reaction. I mean, I at least had a job. I didn't say I was jobless.”
