I paced back and forth in my study, the phone pressed tightly against my ear. My frustration was simmering just beneath the surface. Scarlett’s voice on the line didn’t help—it was sharp, cold, and full of defiance.
"Is it true?" I demanded, my knuckles turning white as I gripped the phone harder. "About the owner of the beachfront mansion? A sixty-year-old werewolf?"
