“Twins?” I whispered, eyes wide with shock. “Alice, is your twin sister?” I asked again as if the second time would change her answer, but she only nodded in agreement. “Yes,” Serene answered with a small voice, casting her gaze to the ground as though she was ashamed of the truth she just admitted. “Why didn’t you tell me you were a twin?” I asked, unable to get past the shock and surprise I was feeling at the moment. “I guess I buried her and never wanted to talk or think about her” Serena said, finally looking up at me. “What happened?
