ALYSIA
The moment I opened my eyes, I knew something was wrong. Something gnawed at me, telling me that something was happening.
I looked to the side to find it empty and when I pressed my hand down on Damon’s side of the bed, it was cold. He had been gone from our room for a while. This made me frown, and it didn’t help that my heart was pounding softly in my chest.
I rubbed the spot over my heart, wondering what this feeling of dread was.
I pushed the sheets to the side and climbed down from the bed. I listened and the air felt too still. The comforting presence of the people in the house was all gone, signifying that no one was here.
“What is happening?” I muttered to myself as I hurried out of the room. I don’t know why but I was frantic with worry as I scanned every corner of the house and listened for anyone but nothing.
“Damon?” I called into the empty house even though I already knew that I wouldn’t get an answer. He wasn’t here just like everyone else.
