Ethan’s POV
From the moment Katelyn stormed into my study to the second she walked out, not more than ten seconds had passed. But in that short span of time, she turned my entire world upside down.
I stared at the door she had just slammed shut, still processing the fact that she had actually done it. She had walked in here, dropped the divorce papers on my desk like they were nothing more than junk mail, and left without so much as a backward glance.
For a moment, I sat there in stunned silence, staring at the crisp white papers with her signature scrawled at the bottom.
Then I laughed.
Not because it was funny—far from it.
But because I couldn’t believe her audacity.
She didn’t want a cent of my property? Not a penny?
Where the hell did she get the confidence to think she could walk away from me, from this life, like it was nothing?
I picked up the papers, reading over them again, as if the words would change the second time around. But they didn’t.
