Kent ran his fingers through Alexis' hair, worry etched across his face. "It's been so long, and I still don't have proof of her affair. The baby monitor is gone now. It's only going to get harder…" "Don't worry," Alexis said, sounding relaxed. "Howard already took my money. He'll handle it. We just need to wait." So that was it. A chill ran through me, followed by a wave of fear. Howard had been part of their plan all along. He had been set up to lead me into making a mistake… No wonder Kent had been subtly pushing me to see Howard for lactation sessions. It turned out that they had been scheming this from the start. I felt a flicker of relief that I hadn't made a mistake the first two times. But I also wondered why Howard hadn't told them about us. According to their plan, they should have known by now. The only explanation I could think of was that Howard had kept our relationship a secret. Anger surged through me. Whatever his reasons were, I would never tolerate being dec
