Elaria didn't stay for dinner.
She asked Sebastian for her phone.
Sebastian didn't say a word.
Suppressing the emotions in her chest, Elaria said softly, "Are you planning to lock me up again, Sebastian? This time... I don't even have Grandma anymore."
The word "Grandma" hit Sebastian like a punch to the gut.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he murmured, "I'll drive you home. I'll give your phone back when we get there."
Elaria didn't argue. She changed back into her clothes, and even though she looked pale, the housekeeper worried she was still recovering and gently wrapped her up in a thick shawl from head to toe, whispering a few words that were barely holding back a sob.
Elaria's heart sank with guilt. She slipped into the car, eyes slightly glassy.
Sebastian looked totally drained, but he still insisted on driving her himself. For him, these few minutes together were precious. He didn't know when-or if-he'd get them again.
