Chloe Grace sniffled with a hint of tears. “I’m not crying. You just hurt me.”
William Turner’s dark eyes locked onto her, taking in the rare sight of her looking so delicate. She was in a plain black turtleneck, her face soft and vulnerable—it’d make anyone want to protect her.
His voice softened without him realizing. “Not crying? Then what’s this, soup running from your eyes?”
She wanted to argue, but his hand gently cupped her foot, lightly rubbing the swollen area. Chloe tried to pull back, but he didn’t let her, gripping her foot tightly. His tanned hand against her pale skin made for a pretty intense contrast, bringing back memories for them both of that wild night.
William glanced up at her, eyes glinting with something deeper.
Chloe turned her face away, seeming uncomfortable. Then his low, suggestive voice came again, “Once we’re married, and you get used to being with me every night, don’t blame me if you’re crying and begging later, not wanting a divorce.”
