Chloe Grace let out a bitter laugh. Was she being heartless?
She didn’t think so.
If anything, she felt that being soft-hearted—just letting it go—would only open the door for Olivia Hale to invade every inch of her life. Sooner or later, she and William Turner would still end up falling apart just the same.
She lifted her eyes toward the window, watching the neon lights outside grow faint and dull. Her voice dropped lower. “William, look. Even the brightest neon fades eventually. Just like us. We were never really a good fit.”
He stayed quiet for a moment before suddenly asking, “And what about you and Mason Shaw? Are you a good fit, then?”
