CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWO - THE ICE FORTRESS
Back in her room, Anna pored over the contents of the folder. The rules were strict and numerous. Specific dress codes for different times of day, restricted areas of the mansion, limited times for outdoor activities. Most distressing was the complete ban on outside communication.
"No phones, no internet, no letters," Anna read aloud, her heart sinking. "How am I supposed to let Erik know I'm okay?"
As the day wore on, Anna tried to navigate the mansion, hoping to familiarize herself with its layout. But the place seemed designed to confuse, with identical corridors and locked doors at every turn. More than once, she found herself lost, only to be discovered by a disapproving staff member and escorted back to her room.
During one of these wanderings, Anna stumbled upon a small library. The room was cozy, filled with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and comfortable reading nooks. As she ran her fingers along the spines of ancient-looking tomes, a voice startled her.
