ELORA'S POV
The door slammed behind me and I didn't even flinch.
I walked out with fire in my veins, my heart pounding like it was trying to escape my chest. I didn't care who followed. I didn't want to hear another excuse, another apology, another lie.
I needed air. Space. Anything that didn't reek of Lucian. Or Rowan.
And then, he followed.
I could hear his heavy footsteps behind me. I didn't stop. I wouldn't stop. If I looked back, I might break again, and I was tired of falling apart.
Rowan—how could I let myself respond to his touch like that? Stupid Elora.
Then I saw him.
Aiden.
He looked like he wanted to say something.
His eyes were soft, lips parted like he was trying to find the right words.
But I couldn't do that right now. I don't want to hear a word.
Not from him. Not from anyone connected to Lucian.
I turned my head slightly, just enough for him to know I saw him—and kept walking.
Then I stopped. My chest tightened.
