Chapter 29
Winter, who'd been basking in the spotlight and had been showered with praise earlier, now found herself utterly ignored. Anger and humiliation boiled over inside her.
Only she and Diana remained once the tea room emptied. She finally broke down, sobbing, "What on earth is going on with that bitch? How does she even know how to make tea? And worse, how is she better than me?"
Diana was equally baffled. But now wasn't the time to dwell on their confusion. They had to turn the tables. Decades of scheming had taught Diana how to regain control in mere seconds. She quickly steadied herself.
"Don't panic. I have another plan. We can make sure she's ruined today, but I need you to cooperate…"
As she spoke, her voice dropped to a whisper for fear of being overheard. She leaned closer and whispered her strategy in Winter's ear.
Winter's eyes lit up. Eagerness sparked in her chest, and she was all too ready to execute the plan.
Relief washed over Diana as she saw Winter's spirits lift.
