"Trys, actually... I went to Lawson Group looking for you," Megan said, sniffing and wiping away her tears, her eyes locked on him.
"Did you?" Trystan's face remained unchanged.
"Yeah, I saw you in the conference room with Elijah. The door was open." Megan's gaze stayed fixed on him. She waited for him to say something, even if it was by way of a lie to explain matters.
Trystan's expression didn't shift. "Oh. Was there something you needed?"
Megan bit down hard on her lip, struggling to understand how Trystan could be so cold. "Trys, aren't you going to explain? Who's the DNA test report for?"
He met her gaze. "Can't you figure it out? It's for Bethany, of course."
"Trystan!" Megan's anger flared. "You're divorcing Bethany, and I'm your fiancée now. And you think you can talk to me like that?"
Trystan's brow furrowed, but there was no regret in his expression. "Meg, I told you from the start. From the moment we reconnected, I said I'll never love you."
