I knew Damon cared about me.
And he was always there for me since we met.
But I didn’t want to think he actually had feelings for me.
I didn’t want to acknowledge it, the same way I refused to acknowledge if I felt anything more for him.
If we ever felt anything more for each other, I felt it should not be discussed, it should be buried or discarded. We didn’t need feelings complicating what we had.
Feelings would lead us wishing and hoping we would be together, forever. And when that doesn’t happen, it’d lead to a gut-wrenching heartbreak.
And so, we both didn’t need feelings.
What we had was nice. If we were to let go of each other someday, it should be when we both get tired of each other. That way, it won’t hurt to part ways.
For now, I wasn’t tired of him.
I pressed my body against his, placing my hand on his cheek and making him look at me.
“Are we good, Damon?”
He blinked, sighed and nodded.
