Dominic’s pov ;
I walked through the door, only to find Sophie sitting on the sofa in a daze. Her gaze was distant, like she was lost in her thoughts.
"What are you daydreaming about?" I asked coldly, trying to shake her out of her stupor.
It took her a couple of seconds to look in my direction, and when she did, her eyes seemed unfocused at first.
Then, with a soft voice, she murmured, "Sir, you're back."
She tried to stand up and greet me, but before she could even take a few steps, she tripped over the table leg and almost fell face-first onto the ground.
If I hadn’t acted quickly and caught her in time, she would’ve had an unpleasant encounter with the floor. My frown deepened.
"What's going on?" I couldn't help but ask, my tone laced with concern. Why did she seem so distraught today?
She managed to steady herself, stepping out of my arms and giving me a forced smile. She was trying not to worry me, but I could see it in her face. Something was wrong.
