What else could Mason say? Even if he had other thoughts, he couldn't tell Avery. But it wasn't a lie. He really had been thinking about her all evening.
Lying in bed, Avery heard Mason say he missed her, and her anger faded away. She lay there without moving for a while. Finally, she said, "Fine. Wait a minute. I'll come down."
She realized if she didn't go down, Mason might keep bothering her all night, calling her over and over. He could be so clingy.
But she wasn't Juliet. What use was it for him to cling to her?
At that moment, Avery even had a fleeting thought. She hoped someone who resembled Juliet more than she did would show up so that Mason would leave her alone. Then, she could sleep in peace.
