They would have shopped a bit longer, but Avery got tired and sleepy. Mason suggested they could come back another time.
Feeling too groggy to walk around more, Avery agreed to call it a day. Still, they had quite a decent haul, arranging for the store to deliver everything.
It was a weekend evening and traffic was heavier than usual, so Avery dozed off in the car on the way.
She happened to wake up just as the car pulled into the courtyard of the Stone residence.
Mason parked the car and teased, "Perfect timing. You woke up just as we arrived."
Avery glanced toward the villa and said seriously, "I can smell Mom's cooking."
Hearing her words, Mason turned sharply to her. "Honey, what did you just say? Say that again."
If he hadn't heard wrong, she had just called his mother "Mom". Previously, she'd always called her "Mrs. Stone."
