The driver got out and opened the door. "Ms. Naomi."
Naomi glanced at Samuel sitting in the back seat and eventually got into the car.
"Dad," she addressed him after the driver closed the door.
Samuel hummed in acknowledgment, then said, "You've been back for a while, right? I heard that you've been ill these past few days."
"I had a fever for two days, but I'm fine now," she said.
He turned to look at her. She seemed to have matured over the last few years she was abroad.
Samuel stared at her for a while before saying, "Heather said that you're still insisting on divorcing Brendan, is that true?"
"Yes, Dad," Naomi replied straightforwardly.
He frowned and after a moment of pondering, he looked at her and asked, "Naomi, if I asked you not to divorce, would you agree?"
Throughout her life, whether from her own impressions or from what others said, Samuel had always been domineering and intolerant of anyone opposing him.
Brendan's character was largely inherited from him.
